Summer's Here, and the Time is Right

The former Queen of Disco has a new CD out, Crayons, and is currently on tour. We're sorry that we missed her at PNC Bank Arena and Jones Beach Theater, but, well, as much as we love Donna Summer and 12"ers, the idea of sweltering outside while shaking our aging booty just didn't sound like Hot Stuff.

As much as our gay pulse races at the intro of "MacArthur Park" or "Last Dance," there's something intriguingly misguided and charmingly "off" about Summer's overlooked 1980's catalog that we just love. (We also had a crush on Judge Reinhold, so you can see that we often favor the underdog.) Which is why we urge you to sample "There Goes My Baby," say, or "Dinner with Gershwin" the next time you feel the need for some Summer time.

  2. Ooh, you're right! She did, after her hubby's group, Brooklyn Dreams. Incidentally, her hubby (Bruce Sudano) always struck me as a major closet homo, but I like Donna a lot, so I'm not gonna start any rumors, except here on this minimally-read li'l ol' blog...

  3. Hmm....I dunno, if you're marrying Donna Summer, I'm not sure you're quite in the closet.
